Do You Know Which Superfoods Enhance Your Immune System?

Don't you work at having the best health you can? Most of us do. This is true of most folks, and it's absolutely normal. This is the reason we exercise. We strive to eat meals that are nutritious and balanced, as well as great tasting. For this reason, we chug down glass after glass of water throughout our day. We have been taught that this is what we must do to keep our body in optimum health.

Pork chops may not be the first food that comes to mind when someone is discussing superfoods, but it can be very beneficial to maintaining a healthy immune system. Now, don't scoff. This is true. However, most non-meat eaters won't find this very useful. Just 6-ounces of pork chops per day can reverse rapid weight loss when it isn't desirable. When someone is ill, they tend to lose weight.
If the sick person eats pork chops, this weight loss can be avoided. Some folks might groan at the thought of eating pork chops every day. One of the antioxidants that battles cancer cells is selenium. Pork chops contain a lot of selenium. One good thing about pork chops is that there is no limit to the different ways you can cook and serve them. Boredom won't set in, that's for sure.

T-cells are a white blood cells called lymphocytes and are part of the immune system. If you have an adequate zinc intake, your T-cells are activated and make your immune system stronger. You can easily consume 17 milligrams of zinc with just 100 grams of wheat germ. This is more than enough to keep your body healthy. You can put wheat germ into pretty much everything you cook or bake. The simplest way to get wheat germ in your body is to sprinkle it over whatever you are eating. The taste of wheat germ is subtle and won't take away from the dishes you combine it with.

As you may know, Vitamin C breaks down when it gets warm. It's extremely sensitive to any type of heat. This is why it is important to keep the kale in the salad raw. Since Vitamin C is so important for keeping your immune system strength up, include raw kale in your eating plan weekly.

There are many benefits to be had from eating the superfood salmon, but one of the most important advantages is its ability to strengthen your immune system. Salmon is full of protein and the omega-3 fatty acids that your body needs for optimum health. Protein is the building blocks of your muscles. It helps your body fight disease and strengthens the musculature of your body. Omega-6s bring germs and bacteria to our bodies that cause illness. Omega-3s protect us from them. A good goal to shoot for is to consume salmon twice each week. It's best if you can eat salmon three times a week, but you might find it difficult to include it in your meal plan that often. Try having it for lunch sometimes or, if you truly cannot manage three meals of salmon, stick to twice per week.

You will find that many foods are available to you that can be called immune system superfoods. You know that you need to eat a healthy and balanced diet anyway, why not choose the foods that help your immune system stay healthy at the same time?
